Oregon Heritage Farms harvest tour/field trip info: We offer customized tours to fit any group. Our tours operate daily rain or shine and reservations are required. Our farm is located 8 miles west of Washington Square on Scholls Ferry Road. We have an array of fun filled activities to delight kids of all ages. These include our hay ride, animal viewing area, hay maze, picnic tables and our exclusive "Jumping Apple!!" To insure that everyone has a grand time, we ask that you arrive on time and follow some time tested, simple guidelines.
For those of you with first graders and older that are planning on touring our packing plant, ample chaperones is a must for safety reasons. This is a great educational and visually informative way for the kids to experience the process of the apple from tree to grocery store.
Our hay ride trailer will comfortably fit 20 students with adult chaperones. The ride itself takes approximately 12 minutes. All passengers must remain seated at all times until the driver has informed you it is safe to get off. Once off, this would be the time for the teachers with a large group to inform the next group it is their turn for the hay ride. Rotating smaller groups between the activities works best. We do have apples and cider for tasting and request that the chaperones remind the students it is a tasting, not a meal.
Before you leave our farm all are given an apple to bring home with them. It is up to the director or teachers to decide if their group would be able to pick their own apple from our store or if it is best for them to take pre-packaged bags back to the classroom. If your tour is in Octoboer included in the $5 fee per person over 2 years of age is a pumpkin. We have a special area by our front fence for the children to pick from. These pumpkins are the ones that they should be able to carry themselves. This is to insure safety on buses.
